Ghouls Rule Makeup

So, I love all the new dolls coming out! I bought some new ones (finally!) thanks to the new job and I will post reviews soon but today, in honor of the new Ghouls Rule DVD I'd like to post pictures of the makeup I did inspired by Draculaura's doll!!

This last one is just of me playing around being "Hipster Draculaura!"  So, what do you think??

Black and White and Pink all over

HI!!  I'm so excited! My house is finally mostly unpacked!  Between moving, starting a new job and bug invasions (don't worry, we called a pest control guy and I haven't seen a bug inside since!) I've been really busy!  I found time the other day to take some pictures of Spectra, Lala and Clawd, and my B&W SS Frankie!  SO....  My Spectra pictures have been posted on DeviantArt.com for a few days now. Here are the links... Color Me Purple (my personal favorite of the group), Dancing SpectraNeon Spectra, and Spectra the Ballet Student.  I was really pleased with the outfit I put together for Spectra and I thought it looked like a ballet costume.  I posted a picture of Lala today that is really cute too! Chatting  It's part of a group of shots I did in her "house".  I have some of her and Clawd hanging out in her bedroom but I'm not done tweaking them yet.

Here are my SS Frankie dolls!

I decided to keep the one with the best hair in the box!

As you can see the one in the box has really sleek hair.  The loose ones hair was kinda smooshed or something in the box and when I took her out I was able to fluff it and it looks way better now!

I tried to pose her like her picture at the bottom of the box!  This was the closest I could get, what do you think?

Her shoes are way cute!  The MH designers totally blow me away with all the details they are able to get onto such a simple doll!  I can't wait to see the SS Clawdeen and SS Cleo that I have heard rumors about!  They are supposed to come out in November-December in a box set like the Gloom Beach dolls!

It's been awhile...

So it's been forever since I posted.  I've been really busy. I moved across town (moving sucks!) and  I got a "real" job for the first time in 9 years.  Hey, I need money to keep up with my MH addiction!  Anyway, the most exciting thing that has happened is that I won a MH contest on Twitter!!  Hooray!! I never win anything so I was super surprised and excited!  In fact, the only reason I joined Twitter was for MH contests, so it was amazing that the first one I ever entered in, I won!  What did I win, you ask?

My own black and white Skull Shores Frankie!

So, now I have 2 Frankies, one to open and one to KIB!

I'm still trying to decide which one to open and which one to KIB, so for now they are both still in box and I'll post with pictures when I open one.  Luckily these aren't my only new additions...

I also have Skull Shores Lagoona and Draculaura!  Did you see Skull Shores? My girls and I thought it was super cute!  So here are some close-ups of Lagoona first!

I love her makeup!  It's so vibrant!

Her shoes are cute but kinda plain.  They aren't as clever as Ghoulia's.

I think it's supposed to be a tentacle.

Wanna sip?  Her Tiki drink is super cute and angry =)

Over all I like this Lagoona, except I wish her top was more like the one on the box design.  That one looked more like 2 separate pieces, which is always better since MH clothes are hard to find!

On to Draculaura!

Hello sailor!

I really like that she has a sailor suit on!  Her hibiscus drink is really cute but I wish it was a little scarier!

Her shoes are very sweet and Lagoona has already asked to borrow them!

Lagoona may borrow this bracelet and those earrings too!

Overall, I am slightly disappointed with this Draculaura.  Her hair was poorly executed, her bangs don't stay in their V and the wisps should be curled and be closer to her ears instead of on top of her head!  Also the concept for her outfit is cute but is more appropriate for Lagoona than Draculaura.  The Lolli-Goth styles she is usually in suit her more!

Lagoona Blue, Mermaid...?

Disneyland was uhhh-mazing!!  We had a super fun time and since then I have been busy packing because we are moving across town!  I'm super excited to be out of apartments and I'm hoping this will be our last move for awhile! Anyway, I wanted to get in one last photo shoot before I pack up my "studio", LMAO!  So here it is! My super secret idea!

Lagoona Blue as a Mermaid! See it here @ DeviantArt.com link

Here she is taking a bath with Neptuna! See it here @ DeviantArt.com link

I was so inspired by a few fellow deviants that I HAD to do my own version!  Lagoona is my second favorite MH character so, quite a bit of my favorite art on DeviantArt.com features Lagoona and three of them feature Lagoona drawn as a mermaid.  I decided that I needed a Lagoona Mermaid doll, et voila!

In no particular order my inspiration:

I would also like to thank my daughter Ella's Ariel doll for lending me her tail! =)

Update

I'm so excited!  We're going to Disneyland March 23- March 25!  That's right, this weekend!  This is my baby girls first trip and I can't wait to post pictures of us with the Princesses, the Fairies, and of course, Mickey and Minnie!

Also, I just got the Gimp software and I am working on some really cool pictures but I am moving April 1st and am still looking for a place to live, so It might take me a little while to get them posted.  I'm still gathering supplies and I might have to pack up my "photo studio" before I'm able to take the next few shots.  I'm also learning how to sew, so (hee hee) I will be making my own MH doll fashions!  I'm really proud of the t-shirt modifications I did for our Disney trip too! I have to thank You Tube and all the cool people that post tutorials!!

ARRGH!!

I can't find MH dolls anywhere!!  Every store I check the past few weeks the shelves are empty of dolls!!  Is anyone else having this problem??

BTW I'm working on a top secret photo shoot!  I'm really excited about it and I have to thank some people @ Deviant Art for the inspiration!

I have a few pictures that I want to share.  My daughter Ella is really enjoying helping me set up photo shoots for my Monster High dolls.  We are currently working on one featuring Lagoona Blue and I'm really excited about it!  So here are a few pictures that I'm not submitting to my Deviant Art page because I post the more "artistic" ones there!  If you would like to see those pictures too please click here... http://halogirl81.deviantart.com/

Frankie is ready to hit the Maul with her Beasties!

Because of all of her fur, Clawdeen is keeping it really simple this summer!

Lagoona dreams of Summer Frights with Gil.

Draculaura made Clawd loose the hat, ascot, and vest until they can shop for some shorts and sandals for the poor furry boy!

I don't really like the lighting in some of these shots so I will be working on adjusting my lights better for my next shoot!

For Twig

I have a friend on Facebook that has touched my heart.  I help fund her children's book venture and I hope to meet her one day.  Her name is Twig and she's a fairy! http://www.twigthefairy.com/   My daughter's love to read her books and wonder what Twig is doing.  This picture is for Twig!

We caught a fairy using Twig's Fairy Catching Kit!  This is Ghoulia the Scary Fairy!  Zoe isn't sure what to think!

This is our Fairy Catching Kit.  It comes with a jar, moss, fairy food, sparkly stones and a bottle of fairy dust.  You put the food inside the jar and with the lid off place it on a window sill with a trail of fairy dust leading to the jar.  Then you wait for a fairy to fall asleep inside and pop the lid on!  You have to remember to release the fairy or you may loose socks, or keys, wake up with crazy bed head or get terribly knotted shoe laces!

To see more of what happened when we left our Fairy Catching Kit out please go to my Deviant Art page! http://halogirl81.deviantart.com/

Lagoona Blue's DOTD dress modification

So today I've decided to share how I modified Lagoona's DOTD dress.  When I bought this doll I was really excited because I thought her hair was super awesome and totally unexpected.  I want to give props to Mattel for releasing a female fashion doll with a mohawk!  My only problem was something just wasn't right with the dress... it was missing something...  Glitter!!  It wasn't shiny enough! Lagoona is a water creature and I felt that her dress needed to look like it was wet.  So here it is!

I used two different glitter fabric paints, silver and opalescent.  The silver was also holographic.

She's such a happy model!  So easy to work with! (Clawdeen is a diva and can get snarly and Cloe is such a princess!)

You can see how the light catches the glitter and the clear paint. It has a very nice shimmer to it when it moves.

Over all it took about two days of painting and drying and painting some more! I did 2 layers and now the dress is a bit stiff and the doll can't sit down but that's the price of beauty!

Introducing...

I've been sick the past week so I've decided an easy thing to write about is an introduction of all my dolls...

This is my Alice in Wonderland doll by Liv.  I only bought it because I love Alice in Wonderland.  It's the only one I have buy I am hoping to get the rest in the set one day.

These are my Tinkerbell dolls. From the left they are the live action movie version, ballerina princess and one that I only bought because it was on sale for $5.  I usually much more picky about Tinkerbell's face and dolls in general.

This is my POP! Batman collection... I know they aren't really dolls, but they[re so dang cute!  I really want the Disney Villains because I think it takes a lot of talent to make villains cute!  Seriously, The Joker is way creepy cute!

My Dead Tired MH collection... Lagoona and Clawdeen are on my list!

My Dawn of the Dance MH collection.  I will post some close-ups of Lagoona because I modified her dress a bit...

My Fearleading and Gloom Beach box set... I have opened my Fearleading box since I took this picture because I have a photo shoot in mind for http://halogirl81.deviantart.com/...

Gloom Beach and my crown jewel, SDCC Ghoulia!

One of my all time favorite Barbie's EVER... I Can Be a Computer Engineer Barbie!

And finally my Fashionista Barbie heads!  Oh and my Fashionista Barbie and Ken...

Well, this is all the dolls I have on display right now... I'll be going through my garage  soon and I'll get pictures of those dolls soon!

What I did Yesterday!

I made my own profile on http://halogirl81.deviantart.com/!  I've looked at other people art on this site for years and decided that it was time to submit some of my own stuff!  Be prepared to be bombarded with MH Fanart!

Presidents Day

Here is another Deviant artist to check out: http://fabuloucity.deviantart.com/gallery/ He's got some really cute drawings of the ghouls and of some Disney princesses.

I don't really have any plans today. I think I'm just gonna chill and maybe come up with a wish list of the MH things I'd like Mattel to come out with, like more clothes for the MH boys, like a Casketball uniform for Clawd and letterman jackets for him and Duece.  Maybe I'll help my daughter Ella design a shirt with the MH kit we bought awhile ago and haven't made yet. Maybe I'll clean out my garage and find something awesome that I forgot was in there.  Or maybe I'll just cuddle up with a blanket and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (yes, I'm reading it again!).  I might even plan out a surprise party for my birthday and leave the plans somewhere (next to the toilet) that my husband with find them!  So many ideas!  Wish me good luck and have a Fang-tastic day!

Skull Shores Ghoulia Close-ups!

Ok, here they are...SS  Ghoulia's close-ups!

Still in the box...

The back of the box showing the four other dolls in this series...

The card that came in the box, on the other side is a map...

Unboxed!

Her shoes are decorated with blood drips...

I <3 her crimson lips!

Her earring is a rib cage, lol!

and the other is a blood splat!

Mini brains arranged to look like a flower...

Blood drip bracelet and a brains design on her cover-up...

Without her cover-up...

A close-up of her face without her glasses...

Finally, her skull coconut drink with a bone umbrella and brain shaped bubbles!

This is definitely one of my top 3 favorite Ghoulia's!  Her hair is super cute with it's retro vibe. I totally like this summer look way more than her Gloom Beach look!  I wonder how much fun her design team has coming up with all of her quirky zombie accents! What's your favorite character and your favorite look?
